It has been said that there are two ways to know where someone has been: by walking in their shoes or by washing their feet.  While I cannot say I have been in your shoes, I can say that I have been washing the feet of law enforcement families for many years.  Serving leads the way at SHIELD Chaplaincy.

I have learned that officers are exposed to a lifetime of traumatic events for the average citizen every three years.  Add to that the constant adrenaline rushes and crashes, swings in schedules, disappointments in court, negative media footage, etc., it does not take a team of experts to figure out officers and their families face some unique challenges.  I know this is true because I have literally spent thousands of hours doing ride-alongs with officers, and I have spent hundreds of off-duty hours with them and their families. Your sacrifices are great, and so then, is your capacity to hurt, but there is a God who has greater capacity to heal and refresh.

This is why after more than 23 years serving as a pastor, God led me to start SHIELD  to pour into you. Whether you need a safe place to vent, are looking for a little relationship advice, or would simply like someone to pray with you, please do not hesitate to reach outYou are appreciated, you are loved, and there is hope for a brighter future.

Your brother,

Chaplain Potter
